Raisin Bran is a breakfast cereal made up of wheat bran flakes mixed with raisins. It's manufactured by several companies including Kellogg's, General Mills, Kraft Foods and Post.
The name "Raisin Bran" was at one time trademarked, but widespread use of the term caused it to become generic, so it can't be subject to trademark protection any longer.
Today, the best known brand is Kellogg's Raisin Bran, originally introduced in 1942. It is known for its advertising slogan, "Two scoops of raisins in Kellogg's Raisin Bran" and its mascot, an animated sun named "Sunny" introduced in 1966.

Recipe for Raisin Bran Muffins --
Ingredients:
1 1/2 C. unprocessed bran
1 1/4 C. milk
1 1/2 C. flour
1/3 C. sugar
1 Tbl. baking powder
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. ground nutmeg
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/2 C. seedless raisins
1/2 C. butter
1/4 C. molasses
1 large egg
Preparation Instructions:
In a medium size bowl, add the bran and the milk and let set for 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400° F. Generously grease 12 muffins cups.
In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and cloves. Blend well and stir in the raisins.
Melt the butter for 15 seconds in the microwave. Stir it and see if it has all melted. You just want it very soft, not hot. Add the molasses and stir it in. Add the egg and blend it well. Stir this into the bran mixture and mix well. Stir the flour mixture in until it is moistened. Batter will be lumpy.
Divide the batter among the greased cups. Bake for 15 -20 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. Remove the muffins form the cups and serve warm.
